Hello Reader, It's been two weeks since we last connected — time for another update from Life Science Animation, where we turn complex biotech into clear visual stories (and somehow juggle family life with PANS/PANDAS along the way). 1. Animation in the MakingWe're deep into creating a 2D/3D animation for Danish biotech Cymab.bio, visualizing their innovative approach to "cold" tumors — those that hide from the immune system. The challenge: While immunotherapies work brilliantly when immune cells can reach tumors, cold tumors actively block this access. Previous attempts to use interferon gamma (IFNγ) to heat up these tumors caused dangerous side effects. Cymab's solution is elegant: Their TIMS technology captures the body's own IFNγ with a special antibody, extending its lifespan and concentrating it precisely where needed. Think of it as turning a dangerous flood into controlled irrigation - same powerful molecule, but delivered safely to transform cold tumors into immune battlegrounds. 2. Animation DeliveredOur latest animation for Satellos carries unusual weight. The project came through Elijah, who lost two brothers to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and lives with DMD himself. Last week brought devastating news - his mother's stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis. The 120-second animation explains Satellos' potential DMD therapy. But for Elijah, it represents something more: hope racing against two clocks. Every project matters, but some remind us why we do this work. 3. Private news - from PolandAfter postponing our visit to my mother due to the kids' illness, we're heading to the Polish countryside for a few days. Our destination? Uroczysko Zaborek — a restored historic estate where we'll sleep in an actual windmill. This place has stories: Arab sheikhs savoring traditional Polish dumplings, Rolling Stones members planting oak trees and requesting cheese pancakes with raisins. It's a 70-hectare time capsule where old Polish nobility meets rock stars, complete with wooden buildings, a decommissioned church, and an artist's garden. The kids will love the outdoor pool and treasure hunts while we enjoy the famous Podlasie cuisine. If you have any questions about our animations, just reply to this email. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the newsletter - does it bring you value, and do you enjoy reading it? Talk soon, Frank P.S. Frank Metzel - CEO Life-Science-Animation.com |
Helping biotech companies raise funding with powerful animations
Hello Reader, Here’s what’s been going on lately in the studio — a mix of exciting projects, a fresh animation release, and some cooler moments at home. 1. Animation in the Making We’ve started early design work on a new animation that addresses one of the biggest public health threats of our time: antibiotic resistance. The first visual proposal still needs refinement, but it already captures the core idea. Each year, over 1.2 million people die from infections that no longer respond to...
Hello Reader, We’re in the thick of summer and busy as ever in the studio. Here's a quick look at what’s new: 1. Animation in the Making We’re working on a new animation that shows how NAD supports energy production in mitochondria - and why this matters for health. Our client NADMED, based in Finland, has developed a new way to measure NAD levels accurately and affordably. Until now, NAD testing was expensive, mainly used in research, and not very reliable. This is the first tool that really...
Hello Reader, Lots going on at the studio right now, so let’s dive straight in: 1. New animation GIF from Satellos explaining DMD We’ve just wrapped up an exciting 3D animation for Satellos, and the full video will be released soon. After watching the final version, our client felt the voice-over wasn’t quite right - something that only really becomes clear once you see and hear everything together. Luckily, changing voice-over is no big deal. There are plenty of talented artists who can...
